Glaucoma

During a routine eye exam, we use a tonometer to measure intraocular pressure or IOP. We typically numb your eye with drops, and a small probe gently touches your eye's surface. Other tonometers send a puff of air onto your eye's surface.

Abnormally high IOP readings suggest an issue with the amount of fluid in the eye. Either the eye isn't draining correctly or producing too much liquid.

Dry Eye

Contact Lens Exams

If you've only used glasses before and are considering contact lenses, you might be curious about the process. The first step to getting contact lenses is scheduling an appointment with our optometrist at Eyewear Unlimited in Columbus. Here's what you can expect during this session.

Your Eyes Will Be Checked for Difficulties

Our optometrist will comprehensively evaluate your eye health to identify any medical issues that need addressing before you can wear contact lenses. If we identify a problem, we'll recommend treatment or vision correction recommendations. Your eye health assessment includes noninvasive tests, like a vision screening, to determine your prescription strength.

During a contact lens exam, we'll also measure your eyes to ensure your contact lenses fit correctly and don't slide off your irises. You'll look into a device while our optometrist observes your eyes from the other side of the equipment.

You Will Be Provided With a Set of Contact Lenses

We'll provide you with a sample pair of contact lenses in your prescription strength to try on and take home. A staff member will instruct you on how to insert and remove the lenses and demonstrate how to clean and care for them to prevent eye issues or lens damage.

A Follow-up Appointment May Be Necessary

You might need a follow-up appointment if you're a first-time contact lens wearer. Our optometrist will ask about your vision with the lenses, how you care for them at home, and if you're experiencing any problems.
